Biographie
Born in 1992, Caroline Vicquenault is a figurative painter who graduated from the Ecole Supérieur d'Art et Design de Toulon Provence Méditerranée, where she obtained a Master's Degree in the National Diploma of Plastic Expression (DNSEP) in 2016.
Originally from the south of France, she now lives and works in Dijon. Her practice, centered on oil painting, explores personal and universal themes through sensitive and narrative figuration that engages with contemporary pictorial issues. Caroline is part of the collection of the Fonds Communal d'Art Contemporain (FCAC) of the city of Marseille and the PACA Artist Documents network. She has also participated in major cultural projects, such as the restitution of the Cosquer cave in Marseille, as well as the scenography of Writing and Life, a play directed by Hiam Abbass and Jean-Baptiste Sastre at the Avignon Festival.
"Anchored in a permanent search for sincerity and emotion, my painting aims to be halfway between personal introspection and more universal resonances. These scenes, often suspended between reality and imagination, become spaces of contemplation where nature and painting reflect inner states, like a mirror of human emotions. The landscapes tell the story of the space I inhabit as much as the one I imagine. The portraits are those of my loved ones, including animals..."
